Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has begun pitching himself as the next Agent 007 ! Yup ! James Bond!!
Speaking to Esquire, Johnson made his argument for why he should take over the role as Daniel Craig's tenure ends. The Rock noted his grandfather Peter Maivia played a Bond villain in "You Only Live Twice" and he wants to follow in his footsteps. However , Johnson insisted he has to be 007 and doesn't want to be a villain. His grandfather's movie came out in 1967 when Sean Connery was playing the British MI6 agent. The Rock obviously has plenty of experience in the action/adventure movie world...and then some....but... being able to play the suave/romantic part of James bond ? I guess we might have to wait and see...
The Bond franchise is the longest running in Hollywood history and typically casts the spy from a pool of not internationally known actors.
