What Working from Home Has Some People Doing

When the pandemic hit, many of us started working from home and some of us are still at it today. After a year and a half of working from home, many people have made adjustments to their workday routines, a new survey reveals. The poll of 2-thousand Americans reveals some folks have turned to surprising spots around the house in order to find some peace and quiet.

The survey, conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Advil, finds those working from home throughout the pandemic took an average of four months to get used to the change and five months to figure out how to get comfortable while working.Other findings include-

  • Nearly half of respondents (48%) say they prefer to work at home because of the flexibility and more than half would like to work from home permanently.
  • To find a quiet place to work, people admit they’ve tried working from their car (41%), in the bathroom (34%) and in their closet (33%).
  • Not everyone has the ideal workspace at home and 52% say a poor desk set-up has caused them aches and pain.
  • Being with pets has made working from home better for many, with seven in 10 respondents naming their pets as the top reason they want to continue working remotely.

Working from home has also inspired some folks to add healthy habits to their daily routine to help battle burnout. Top things respondents do to reduce stress include:

  • Exercising 52%
  • Taking short walks throughout the workday 41%
  • Meditating 40%
  • Working on a hobby 36%
  • And changing up their working environment 29%
