I love naps! Although my naps are probably not really considered naps since often they go on for hours, they just happen to be in the middle of the day. According to one expert, naps should be a lot shorter, and they should be combined with coffee to be most effective!
Dan Pink is a behavioral expert and he has coined the term “nappuccino,” his technique for creating the best power nap. There are 5 steps to this style of napping and they are:
1. Find your afternoon low point, the time you start to crash. It’s usually about 7 hours after waking.
2. Create a peaceful environment.
3. Drink a cup of coffee. The caffeine kicks in about 25 minutes after you drink it.
4. Set a timer for 25 minutes and take a10 to 20 minute power nap.
5. Repeat frequently.
Pink says doing this will help decrease the amount of adenosine, a chemical that makes you sleepy, in your body, and calls the effects "magic." Feeling tired? Give it a try!
