The CEO of an Arizona software company has an unusual approach to staff retention amid the "Great Resignation," in which Americans have been leaving the jobs in significant numbers amid the pandemic -- offering a $5,000 bonus for new hires to quit two weeks into their jobs. CEO Chris Ronzio of the company Trainual recently explained to "Business Insider" that those hiring in the market today have to move fast, saying of the $5,000 quit bonus: "The offer to quit allows the dust to settle from a speedy process and let the new team member throw a red flag if they're feeling anything but excited." He continued, "Those who refuse the $5,000 miss out on something 'extra' at this point in the timeline, because they believe the long-term value of sticking with us is worth much, much more. It's a powerful thing for them to turn down the cash, opt in, and commit -- and it sets the stage for a great working relationship."
