Watch out...there are new automated red-light cameras in East Providence! To help ease us into the change there is a 30-day warning period that started on Sunday. The police in East Providence said the warning phase is in effect at these two intersections: Broadway at Grosvenor Avenue and North Broadway at Roger Williams Avenue. If you are caught going through a red light during this 30-day grace period, drivers will only be issued a warning and not a ticket at these intersections. Once that 30 day period is over, however, police say drivers will receive an $85 fine.
And watch out, there are other red-light cameras around East Providence that will begin issuing $85 fines 30 days from now.
There are also five new school zone cameras that were activated at the beginning of the year. If you get caught speeding in any of those areas the resulting fine will set you back $50, so be careful and slow down!
