I’m not sure how I feel about this, but I’m also not surprised this is happening. A new TV series based on the classic 1978 movie Grease is in the works right now. Paramount+ has started production on the show “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.” The original movie was so wonderful (and Grease 2 was so bad) that I'm a little leery that they're revisiting this.
“Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” is a musical, prequel series set four years before the events of the original film. Paramount+ released this description of the show, “In 1954 before rock ‘n’ roll ruled, before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school, four fed-up, outcasts dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever.”
The young cast will include Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, Tricia Fukuhara, Shanel Bailey, Madison Thompson, Johnathan Nieves, Jason Schmidt, Maxwell Whittington-Cooper and Jackie Hoffman will star as Assistant Principal McGee. We can expect 10 episodes in Season 1, and it will be available later on this year.
