A Home Depot worker is in deep after swapping out nearly $400,000 of the store’s real money with counterfeit cash he bought off Amazon over a four-year period. Investigators say Adrian Jean Pineda secretly siphoned out $387,500 from the store’s registers in Tempe, Arizona, and replaced it with phony money that’s CLEARLY marked as fake. Secret Service agents say he was able to pull off the crime due to his job as “vault associate” at the store, a position requiring him to collect the store’s daily earnings and deposit them at a nearby Wells Fargo bank. Home Depot became aware of the larceny after executives detected a large number of fake bills coming from one particular store, and then enlisted the Secret Service to investigate. Pineda was arrested January 31st, and faces federal charges that could land him in jail for 20 years!
