Right now Gen Z is digging through their Pokemon card collection to see if they can fund their retirement after news of a rare Pokemon card sold for almost a million dollars!
One card in particular, the 1998 Pikachu "Illustrator" Holo promo card is considered to be the world’s most rare and valuable Pokémon card in the world".
Only 39 copies of this particular card were ever released, so it’s doubtful you’ve got it in a shoebox in the back of your old bedroom closet. Only 10 of these cards were even certified by the PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator), but those who own one can really score if they decide to sell.
One of these cards sold at auction in New York for $195,000. And now another has sold for $900-thousand through Goldin Auction house. A bidding war for the card drove up the price to record levels.
