Three Tons of Space Junk is About to Hit the Moon!

The moon is about to get a few more craters. I hear a bunch of space junk is gonna whack into it tomorrow! About three tons of junk leftover from a rocket reportedly launched by China almost ten years ago, although they deny it, is hurtling towards the moon at around 5,800 miles per hour. It’s expected to make impact tomorrow, and experts believe the trash will make a hole between 33 and 66 feet wide across the surface of the moon. That impact will fling a bunch of space dust for miles as well, so it could take a while to get satellite images to view the damage. With no atmosphere, and thus no defenses against such projectiles, the surface of the moon is covered with craters after run-ins with asteroids and meteors. The craters pretty much stay as is because there’s not weather or erosion to wear them away. The surface of the moon kind of looks like my street after this Winter...full of holes!
