Bill to Make Daylight Savings Time Permanent Passes Senate!

For a long time, many have felt that we should stop turning the clocks ahead in the Spring and back in the Fall, now some progress has been made on that front. Yesterday U.S. Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts said a bill to make daylight saving time permanent just passed the Senate.

This past weekend’s time change marked the beginning of daylight time which is set to end this year on November 6th unless this new legislation changes that.

Markey tweeted that he’s been fighting for this “for decades.” He said, "More sunshine, better health, and the end of a tired tradition. Now, the fight goes to the House."

RI Senator Sheldon Whitehouse is also one of the sponsors of the bill called the Sunshine Protection Act. Having more sunlight in the afternoon hours would have its benefits, Whitehouse said, "particularly in that afternoon hour, that's when kids have come home from school, and you'd like to have them run outside a little bit more. That's when people are doing errands, and it would be nice if there was some daylight for that,"
