Netflix Adding New Fee Structure to Crack Down on Password Sharing!

While Netflix has over 222 million subscribers around the world, there are still a lot of people who ‘share’ their Netflix account with family and friends. Netflix has been trying to come up with ways to crack down on this practice for a while, and now they’re trying a new fee structure to see if that stops people from sharing their passwords.

According to CNN the streamer is testing out a program to "enable members who share outside their household to do so easily and securely, while also paying a bit more."

Customers will now have the option to add an "Extra Member" for an additional $2.99 a month to create new profiles. These so called 'sub users' will log in to the app with their own passwords and they’ll even have their own personalized viewing recommendations. The discounted rate is allowed for up to two people who do not live with the main subscriber. Now that person will just have to get their friend or family member to pony up the three bucks every month.

For now, the new fee structure is available only in Costa Rica, Peru, and Chile, but Netflix says if the practice is successful, they might be rolling it out for the rest of us.
