Host James Corden announced yesterday that he’s quitting “The Late Late Show next year! Although CBS tried to get him to sign on for three years, Corden only inked a one year contract, and said he would be moving on from the popular nighttime show in Spring of 2023.
He said, “When I started this journey, it was always going to be just that. It was going to be a journey, an adventure. I never saw it as my final destination, you know?”
So, I guess that means no more “Carpool Karaoke?” That “Late Late Show” feature, in which Corden drives around with different celebrities riding shotgun and singing songs, has been a massive hit for Corden. Many of the videos have gone viral on YouTube, in particular the one featuring Adele, which has over 254 million views!
Corden said, “And I never want this show to overstay its welcome in any way. I always want to love making it. And I really think in a year from now that will be a good time to move on and see what else might be out there… this has been the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make, it really has. I’ve never taken this job for granted.”
No word yet who will be Corden’s replacement.
