Watch Out for Ticks & Learn the Symptoms of Lyme Disease

It seems like the tick population has exploded here in Rhode Island. You may have noticed them crawling on your dog or even worse on you! Every time I walk my dog Luna I do a tick check afterwards and I usually find a few of those nasty little blood suckers on her. It's a good habit to get into if you own a dog, and you should be sure to check your children for ticks too when they come inside from playing in the backyard.

Ticks carry all sorts of diseases including Lyme Disease which can cause all sorts of terrible symptoms, especially if it goes untreated for a long period of time including chronic inflammation, muscle aches and pains, fatigue and more.

I spoke with Lifespan infectious diseases physician Dr. Jennie Johnson, MD, who is the director of the Lifespan Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases Center at The Miriam Hospital. She had lots of useful information about Lyme and other tick borne illnesses. Listen to our interview below!.
