Remember when Jennifer Hudson was a contestant on American Idol back in 2004, and she was voted off the show after judge Simon Cowell told her: "You're out of your depth in this competition." Well, she’s having the last laugh. She has now achieved EGOT status!
As the 17th member of the EGOT club she’s now the proud owner of an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and after last night a Tony award!
After a hiatus due to Covid, the Tony Awards returned to Radio City Music Hall for the first time since June of 2019.
Forty-year-old Jennifer Hudson took home a Tony for producing the musical, "A Strange Loop," making her the third youngest person to reach the status of EGOT. When Robert Lopez attained EGOT he was 39, and John Legend was 39-years and eight-months when he won.
By the way, along with Hudson, several others won Tony awards as producers of the show “Strange Loop” including RuPaul Charles, Don Cheadle, Alan Cumming, Ilana Glazer, Mindy Kaling, and Billy Porter.
