Just before Valentine’s Day in 2024 we’ll finally get to see the long awaited Dirty Dancing sequel! Yesterday Lionsgate announced that Baby will be back in theaters on February 9th, 2024.
The movie will star Jennifer Grey as Francis “Baby” Houseman, and she will be returning to Kellerman’s resort in the 1990s for what Deadline reports is “a story of summer, young romance, and dancing.”
While at the Cannes Film Festival the director Jonathan Levine said in an interview with Deadline, “We’re going to try to involve as many people from the original as is appropriate.” And he said “Johnny is a part of Baby’s journey in the story,” so they are talking with Patrick Swayze’s estate. Please no, I hope there isn't a CGI Johnny in this movie.
As for the film’s soundtrack, some popular favorites from the original will return including “Hungry Eyes.” And because the movie is set in the 90s, Levine says we might also hear Alanis Morissette and Liz Phair along with some ‘90s hip-hop.
