They were the inspiration for the Partridge Family, Newport, Rhode Island’s own The Cowsills, a family of musicians. The Cowsills have made some fantastic new music, and they just released their first new album in nearly 30 years called “Rhythm Of The World”.
The Cowsills current lineup onsists of Bob Cowsill, Paul Cowsill, Susan Cowsill, Bob’s son Ryan, Paul’s son Brendon, Susan’s husband Russ and Mary Lasseigne.
Louise Palanker's documentary “Family Band: The Cowsills Story” is currently available on Amazon Prime after a 2-year run on Showtime. As we see in the documentary, the story of the family was not as rosey as the 60s sitcom inspired by the group. It shows in detail the meteoric rise of The Cowsills along with the physical and emotional abuse the group/family suffered at the hands of their father/manager.
