HBO Max is giving some love to an unsung hero. Brainy Velma Dinkley from the Scooby-Doo gang, who is probably responsible for solving the lion’s share of the mysteries they face, is getting her own animated series!
The streamer has set a premiere date for the new adult animated series 'Velma' which delves into the origin story of the character who will be voiced by Mindy Kaling. The show will also star Constance Wu, Sam Richardson, Glenn Howerton, Wanda Sykes, Jane Lynch, “Weird Al” Yankovic and others..
Kaling says she's honored to give a voice to Velma, who she says she identifies with as the "smart but under-appreciated" character.
The only bummer about this project is that Scooby-Doo will not make an appearance. ‘Velma’ makes its debut on HBO Max on January 12th.
