I'll probably buy a few squares for Super Bowl 57 this weekend between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. Sounds like a lot of people are going to be betting on the game, in fact over 50 million adults are expected to bet in the neighborhood of $16 billion!
50 million people! That’s close to 20% of the population of the United States! If that happens it would break a record for the number of people betting on the Big Game. Experts are projecting the amount of money that will be wagered on this Sunday's game will be more than double what was bet on last year’s game. $7.61 billion was wagered on Super Bowl LVI last year.
The increase is expected as a result of several states including Massachusetts, Kansas, Ohio and Maryland which have introduced sports betting. It's been allowed here in Rhode Island since 2018.
