Airline Introducing Newly Featured Bunk Beds In Cattle Class

Catching a nap during a long flight might be easier if a new seating feature being introduced by Air New Zealand catches on. The Skynest “pod” bunk beds will be introduced on some flights by the airline starting in September of next year and will be the first sleep pods on a plane...ever. Passengers will be able to book a pod in four-hour blocks of time with a 30-minute space in between bookings so the pods can be cleaned and have fresh sheets and pillows and blankets put on the bed. They haven’t decided on a fixed price just yet, but the airline says they expect it to cost somewhere in the area of about $400 to $500. The only bad thing about them? They’re in “cattle class,” a name that really doesn’t add a whole lot to their appeal.
