'Bruce Springsteen Day' Declared In New Jersey

It’s official! Bruce Springsteen’s birthday, September 23rd, will from here on out be known as 'Bruce Springsteen Day' in the state of New Jersey!

Governor Phil Murphy made the big announcement during the very first American Music Honors event in West Long Branch, N.J. on Saturday. The event, presented by the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music, was held at the 700 seat Pollak Theater at Monmouth University.

Springsteen was supposed to be at the event in person to receive the honor, but he and his wife Patti Scialfa were home sick with COVID-19.

The awards ceremony was hosted by comedian Jon Stewart, and Steven Van Zandt, Sam Moore of Sam and Dave, Darlene Love and Steve Earle all performed for the crowd, after receiving awards of their own.
