The Most...And Least Patriotic States in the US. MA & RI Are at the Bottom

With the history surrounding the New England area I’m shocked to hear that Massachusetts and Rhode Island are down at the bottom of the list when it comes to the most patriotic states in America.

Massachusetts is where the American Revolution was born! The first shots of the Revolutionary War were fired at Lexington and Concord Massachusetts on April 19th of 1775. And Rhode Island is home to the oldest Fourth of July Celebration, the Bristol Fourth of July Parade (officially known as the Military, Civic and Firemen's Parade), began way back in 1785.

Apparently, we are not as patriotic as we once were, at least according to WalletHub, who just released their annual list of the most and least patriotic states.

They based their list on 13 key indicators in two main categories: Military and Civic Engagement. Some of the things they looked at were the number of adults who voted in the 2020 presidential election, the number of enlisted military population even AmeriCorps volunteers per capita.

Up at the top of the list is Virginia, which was named the Most Patriotic State. They scored third for Military Engagement and eighth for Civic Engagement.

Alaska, which is third overall, came in first for Military Engagement. Meanwhile Vermont, which is in sixth place, scored at the top for Civic Engagement.

Down at the bottom was Arkansas. They are 50th, making it the Least Patriotic, and it’s also 50th for Civic Engagement. Sadly, Massachusetts ranked number 49, Rhode Island number 48.
