Universal Pictures’ big screen adaptation of the mega-hit musical “Wicked” is going to be released in two parts, and we’re going to see it sooner than we anticipated.
The studio has moved up chapter one of the highly anticipated movie adaptation by a month from Christmas to Thanksgiving of 2024. And we’re hearing now that the second chapter will be released a month early as well, on Thanksgiving 2025. It was originally scheduled to hit theaters at Christmas of 2025.
The film stars Ariana Grande as Glinda the Good Witch, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz.
Why the earlier release dates? That gives the movie a chance to grab an audience throughout the holiday season and increases purchase time and an opportunity for merch sales.
