Remember the Francis Ford Coppola movie ‘The Outsiders’ from 1983? It had an incredible cast of young actors that would go on to become big stars including Ralph Macchio, Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Tom Cruise, C. Thomas Howell and Emilio Estevez.
The movie was awesome and so was the book. Well, now that story is headed to Broadway!
A new musical adaptation of the 1967 SE Hinton novel about a bloody conflict between two rival teenage gangs is in development.
The musical, set in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1960s, will begin performances on Broadway next spring. Previews get underway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre in New York on March 16th, then the show opens on April 11th. I've got to get to New York to see that it sounds awesome!
