Scientists Name Newly Discovered Snail After Jimmy Buffett

A group of scientists have named a newly discovered Florida snail after a Jimmy Buffet song.  

The new species of sea snail, which is bright yellow found on Florida coral reefs, has been dubbed the Cayo margarita after Buffett’s famous song "Margaritaville." 

Rudiger Bieler, the lead author of the report, said he is “a bit of a Parrothead” and the team was "no stranger to the regional signature drink" or Jimmy Buffett’s music. Bieler said they “wanted to allude to the color of the drink and the fact that it lives in the Florida Keys.
