Three years after Tom Bergeron exited as host of “Dancing With The Stars,” he’s finally dishing the dirt on why he left.
He was a guest on former “DWTS” dancer and judge Cheryl Burke’s podcast called “Sex, Lies And Spray Tans,” and he says politics were to blame.
Bergeron said he and the executives had an agreement that the casting process would not include politics. He claims the studio broke that deal when they cast former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer as a dancer on Season 28 of the reality competition series. Bergeron said, “Don’t go there. This is… not the right time.”
He felt DWTS should, “be the show that gives people a break from all this bulls**t,” and I think he’s right about that.
The studio wouldn’t hear it and cast Spicer anyway. Bergeron suggested that he would take the season off, but quickly realized it would probably be his last season so ultimately chose to leave the show permanently.
