Freddie Mercury May Return to the Stage as a Hologram

Freddie Mercury may return to the stage as a hologram.

Mercury Songs Limited, the company which manages Freddie’s song catalogue, filed paperwork for a trademark to use his name in 3D and virtual reality.

According to the legal papers, Freddie Mercury’s name and image could be used with “immersive 3D virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences” and for “virtual environments” which means the late singer could be digitally recreated for stage performances.

The idea is for it to be similar to the successful ABBA Voyage show at the ABBA Arena in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London in East London.

Queen guitarist Brian May was asked last year about this subject and said, “We’ve talked about and looked at holograms of Freddie.” He continued, “We love to be live and dangerous, that’s it, that’s our emphasis. Now, when we’re all gone, yeah sure, make an ABBA thing about us, but while we’re here I want to play live.”
