Barbie doesn’t look a day over 30 but the doll is turning 65 this year...and some special dolls will be released to celebrate!
The original Barbie with her black and white striped bathing suit made her debut in 1959, so this year Mattel will release a 65th Anniversary Barbie doll that is a nod to that original Barbie. She is wearing a black and white striped ball gown and shades in a similar cat’s eyes design of her OG sunglasses.
This limited-edition Barbie will be released this Saturday, March 9th and it'll cost $60.
Also, in honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day which is tomorrow, Mattel has added to their “Role Models” Barbie collection with miniature versions of some real life famous women. Among them are Rhode Island’s own Viola Davis, Shania Twain, Helen Mirren, Kylie Minogue and several others. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to buy any of those dolls as only one has been made of each.
